The setup skill

A setup playbook for the agent you already work in — Cowork, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex or whatever else. It connects your inbox, calendar, CRM and billing one at a time, checking each one actually returns your real data before it moves on. That check is the step everybody skips, and it is why most setups quietly produce confident nonsense.

Install it where you work

It installs properly into whichever one you use — so it's a thing you have from then on, not a page you come back to. Pick yours and the steps adjust.

  1. 01

    Install it in Claude Cowork

Add the marketplace, then install the plugin from it. No terminal — it's two entries in your plugin settings, and the skill lands in your / menu.

    1. 1Add the marketplace: bensufiani/customer-magic-plugin
    2. 2Install “Customer Magic” from it
  2. 02

    Say the word

Once it's installed it stays installed — this is a thing you have now, not a page you come back to.

    Set up my revenue sources.

The plugin brings the Customer Magic connection with it, so that part is already done once it's installed — the skill verifies it rather than setting it up.

  3. 03

Connect one source — your inbox

Connectors, added from your settings. Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack and the major CRMs are all there as first-party connectors.

One source, not five. With everything wired at once you can't tell which one is producing a bad answer, so you end up trusting none of them. Your inbox first, because you're the only person who can check the answers from memory.

Prefer to read it first? It is one plain markdown file — open SKILL.md, or read it section by section below.

How do I know it worked?

It should open by asking which harness you're in, and then what you want to get out of this — not by connecting anything. If it starts wiring things up without asking, it hasn't read the playbook: check the URL came through intact and try again.

The first real checkpoint is your inbox. Ask it for the last five people you exchanged more than two emails with. You were there for those conversations, so you'll know instantly whether it's right — and if it isn't, stop there rather than adding a second source on top of a broken one.

Still stuck? Reply to any email from us and I'll work out why. A setup that silently doesn't work is our problem to fix, not yours to debug.

Nothing hidden

You should read anything you install into an agent that can see your inbox. This is the actual file, section by section — the same one the prompt above downloads.

This skill is harness-agnostic and you must keep it that way. The judgment in it — what to connect, in what order, how to prove it works — is identical everywhere. Only the *mechanism* differs, and the mechanism is the one thing you should never assume.

Use whatever your own harness actually provides. If you are Cowork, sources arrive as Connectors. If you are Claude Code or Codex, they arrive as MCP servers you add through your own tooling. Follow the section for the harness the user is in, and ignore the others — telling a Cowork user to run a terminal command is worse than saying nothing, because they conclude the product does not work for them.

If you are unsure how a step is done in your harness, say so and ask rather than inventing a path. A confidently wrong file location costs the user twenty minutes and their trust.

Or read the raw file

It connects nothing on your behalf

Every source is suggested, never connected for you, and it asks for read-only access wherever the vendor offers it. Nothing in the setup needs permission to send an email or move a deal, and it never asks you to paste a password. Connecting Customer Magic itself is an explicitly optional final step — everything before it is useful whether or not you ever do.
